Scott Marchakitus

Hall of Fame prospects are considered under three categories: truly great player, truly great coach, and truly great contributor to the success of the club. Scott rings the bell in two.

He earned Potomac Rugby Union All Star accolades in 1991 and 1992 while leading the club to its greatest successes since its founding in 1975. The team won the Cherry Blossom (1990 & 1992) and Virginia Beach 7s (1990 & 1991) tournaments. More significantly, Towson made it to the Division I championship quarterfinals in 1991 and was the top team in Baltimore in 1992.

As an alumnus, Scott undertook a lengthy effort with Coach Rusty Cross to organize the first major club reunion in the spring of 1998 at Auburn House. Two years later in 2000, they hosted the 25th anniversary reunion, setting the stage for major reunions at five-year intervals thereafter into which the hall of fame celebration has been integrated. Scott also led a major fundraising effort to create a permanent endowment which still provides support for Towson Rugby.
