Clark Wagner
“Wags” (1980-1984) had a knack for seeing things other people didn’t. Off the pitch, he played it for laughs. On the pitch, it often resulted in momentum-swinging plays and devastatingly effective counter attacks as he assessed an opponent’s chief weakness and quickly made them pay for it.
Early influences included Mills and Class of 2023 Hall of Famers Craig Dobkin and Matt McGlone. He had a particular knack for drop goals, nailing three while amassing 36 points against Georgetown. In all four of his years at Towson, he was named to the Baltimore Area Select Side (BASS) and, in two, to the Potomac Rugby Union College Select Side (PRUCSS). His favorite memory, though, was the spring 1984 Towson Invitational Touring Side (TITS) to Ft. Lauderdale. Clark rallied the club to strong showings again highly skilled international players and brought down the house with a bravura performance at the resort’s legendary “Button” bar.
