Don Stone
Towson has been fortunate to attract many strong coaches over the years, most of whom have been alumni. Don's decade of success (2009- 2019) stands above al1. Coached and mentored by club co-founder Craig Dobkin, he was marked for leadership in his second year at the club (1980) when he was named captain of a squad that two years later won tl1e Potomac Rugby Union title. Post-season, he was named to the Baltimore Area Select Side, the region's top players. Don's rugby resume is largely silent for the next 17 years, as he married, raised a family (his son played for the club) and established himself as a higltly regarded financial advisor. Then a difficult stretch in the club's fortunes brought him - along with alumni assistants Tony De Cesare, Paul Redding and others - back to Burdick Field. Within three years, Towson was nationally ranked, competing in the 2012, 2013, and 2016 Final Fours and two Elite Eights, notching a six-year run in the Top Ten, and getting back to the top of the Potomac Rugby Union in 2017.
